I never got "the talk" about the need to protect myself. My privilege made it unnecessary. Yet I do remember "the talk" on how to treat women; both my parents and my sister made that very clear. And yet, that's a different kind of "talk." A reminder to not abuse another is not the same as the reminder that you can be abused: by peers, authority figures, the police, etc. So glad this was brought up in the debate. I'm wondering, if you are willing to share, have you been sat down by your parents/guardians about these issues, essentially have you had a version of "the talk"? Any other reactions to this question in the debate?
